Last week in Caldwell parish, a man was killed in an accident while he was on the job as a UPS Delivery man. Reporting state police say the accident was caused when he lost control of the truck. The accident is still being investigated by Troop F, and routine lab analysis for fatal Louisiana accidents are ongoing.
41 year old James Harris was from West Monroe, and was doing his job out in Caldwell when the accident happened. Witnesses say the wreck happened around 12:52pm. Apparently Harris was going about the routine, driving northbound on Louisiana highway 846 approaching a left hand curve when his 2006 UPS freightliner delivery truck went off the right side of the road. Police say Harris then over corrected, sliding across both lanes of traffic before leaving the road on the left shoulder.
The truck went through foliage before over turning, coming to rest near the shoulder of the road. Troopers got to the scene of accident along with other emergency personal. Harris was taken by an ambulance to the hospital, but died in route. Speed is suspected to be a factor in this crash, but the police are still investigating. Driving under the influence is not suspected to be a factor, but tests are being run anyway.
