On a short interstate highway, a Violet man died after his truck overturned in eastern New Orleans. Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
He was driving a 2003 Ford F-150 northbound on I-510 close to its exit at Almonaster Blvd. about 11 PM when he apparently lost control of his vehicle. His truck left the roadway, hit a signpost, and flipped over. The driver was thrown from his truck.
A passerby called 911 but the driver died from his injuries before paramedics could get to him and treat him. There are no results yet from the routine toxicology tests.
The New Orleans Police Department investigated the accident, as did the Orleans Parish Coroner's office. The coroner is conducting the toxicology tests.
In a separate incident, a truck hit three cars at a stoplight before flipping over and stopping. The accident occurred at Chippewa and Plank in Baton Rouge.
Baton Rouge Police related that the 2001 Dodge truck hit all three cars including rear-ending a 1996 Toyota car. The driver of the Toyota died as a result of her injuries. We offer our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
The Baton Rouge Police Homicide Unit investigated the incident. More information is available here.
