This week in Ville Platte, a woman and her three year old daughter were injured a serious car accident near La.376 near Virdrine, Louisiana. Police report that the accident happened around 10:30am, and that no toxicology tests are pending, and that inebriation doesn't seem to be a factor in this crash.
Chelsie Fontenot was driving north on La.376 near La.10 when she failed to yield at one of the intersections of a stop sign and was hit on the left side by Stephen Tate of Ville Platte in his pick up truck. The impact severely totaled the car that Fontenot was driving, while the pick up truck sustained minor body damage.
Fonetnot and her three year old daughter where taken immediately to Lafayette General by helicopter for treatment of severe injuries, and were listed as critical condition. Stephen Tate, and his three passengers only sustained minor injuries in the crash. State police say that neither Fonetnot or the three year old child was wearing a seatbelt.
