An accident in Sulphur, Louisiana seriously injured two motorists this month. Investigating police say that the accident happened in the city at a local intersection around 11:00am. Alcohol use is a highly suspected factor in this accident, and the offending driver was booked with driving under the influence among other charges when police arrived on the scene of incident. Other drug use, however, is a not a suspected factor in this accident.

28 year old Robert Mitchell Reed Jr. of Kinder, Louisiana was driving his pick-up truck southbound on Huntington street in Sulphur, Louisiana while under the influence when he came upon the intersection and light of Huntingtion and Logan. Reed ran the red light, and made impact with 72 year old motorcyclist Hebert Bell of Sulphur, Louisiana. The motorcycle was knocked down to the ground, and went under the front half of the truck according to pictures.

Bell was taken via ambulance to a local hospital for serious injuries that were considered at the time "non life threatening". His current situation is unknown. Reed was booked into the Sulphur Jail with running a red light, vehicular negligent injury and driving while under the influence, his second offense. The accident is still under investigation by the Sulphur police and has not been closed yet, despite the citations that have been made.
