St.Tammany parish, Louisiana wreck kills one

Posted on Dec 15, 2010

A local Covington, Louisiana man was killed this month in an accident that occurred on a local state highway in St.Tammany parish, Louisiana. Investigating State police have reported the wreck happened around 2:30am in the morning between parishes. At this time they have not released if alcohol was a factor in this accident, but being under the influence along with speed are thought to be factors in this accident.

26 year-old Brandon Miller of Covington, Louisiana was driving his vehicle on local Louisiana highway 435 just east of Louisiana highway 59 when the accident occurred. Miller's 1992 Honda accord was traveling down the highway when, for reasons that are currently being investigated, Miller crossed the centerline of the highway and struck a mailbox. From there, Miller over corrected his vehicle to the right, which caused it to become out of control. It spun counter clockwise across the highway until the accord exited the roadway and struck a utility pole.

According to Louisiana state police, Miller was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of wreck and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by St.Tammany parish coroner's office staff. Investigating police officers have said that they suspect the use of alcohol or another substance to be a major factor in this wreck. Toxicology reports are being sent to lab. Upon their return, citations and more investigations into this accident will continue.
