St.Landry parish Louisiana accident kills couple

This week in St.Landry Parish an accident claimed the lives of two people, sources say. State Police who worked the accident said it happened when a motorcycle turned onto another road while another car simultaneously lost control. It is unknown if drugs or the use of alcohol is suspected in this accident, but routine toxicology reports are pending as is required by Louisiana state law for fatal accidents. The investigation into this accident is ongoing, and no citations have been made.

Roderick and Amber Richards of Sunset, Louisiana were driving their motorcycle on St.Ann road in St.Landry Parish when they made the turn onto La. 182 around 9:30pm. At the same time, 32 year-old Anothy Taylor of Arnaudville, Louisiana lost control of his vehicle as it moved over the centerline. The Richards made collision with Taylor's pick up truck, sending them flying. Then a third car that was being driven by Daniel Cormier of Church Point, Louisiana was driving behind Taylor and hit Amber Richards while she was on the pavement.

Amber Richards and Roderick Richards of Sunset, Louisiana were pronounced dead at the scene by State police. Daniel Cormier of Church Point, Louisiana and Anthony Taylor of Arnaudville, Louisiana were uninjured in the accident. Routine toxicology samples were taken from all three drivers and have been submitted to the crime lab for analysis. Investigations into the accident continue, and citations are expected to be released soon.
