A late November car wreck near Shreveport, Louisiana this month has claimed the life of one young man. Investigators looking into the accident have said that it happened in the late night and early morning hours of the day on a local Louisiana interstate. It is unknown if they suspect the use of alcohol or another substance to have played a part in this accident. Toxicology tests, as required with all fatal Louisiana car wrecks, are being run.
19 year-old Edward Nobar "Tony" Vartenian of Natchitoches, Louisiana was driving his 2005 GMC Envoy down Louisiana highway 6 when the accident occurred. Investigators looking into the wreck have said that Vartenian lost control of his vehicle. This caused him to go off the road on the left hand side, where he hit a ditch embankment. The embankment caused his vehicle to flip over completely, and come to rest upside down.
Vartenian was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of this wreck, and was ejected from the vehicle. Responding emergency personnel discovered him in critical condition. He was rushed to the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana for medical care. After five days of being in critical condition, Vartenian passed away in the hospital. Investigators have not stated if they believe substances had anything to do with this accident, and have said that they are still looking. At this point in time, no citations from this wreck have been stated.
