Seasonal Rains cause Fatal Accident

Posted on Sep 13, 2010

A man was killed in Sunshine, Louisiana this week after seasonal thunderstorms caused extremely dangerous wet road conditions. Reporting police have stated that the accident was a single car incident, and that no other injuries or passengers were reported. It occurred on the LA. 1 North highway near La.991 around Baton Rouge, Louisiana and suburbs.

37 year-old Daniel Parker was driving down the highway during wet road conditions in his 1994 Mazda 626 when he went to make a curve. For unknown reasons, Parker's car went careening to the left side of the road, struck some type of culvert, and went flying into the air near the curve. It then struck a utility pole, flipped over, and came to rest in a nearby ditch on it's roof. The car was investigated and the condition of it's tires were extremely bad.

Reporting police say that Parker had part of his seatbelt situated behind his back, and was partially ejected from the vehicle when emergency response teams arrived. It is unknown if he found dead at the scene of the accident, or died later on from the injuries he sustained. Wet road conditions, bad tire conditions, and speed all seem to be factors in this accident but routine toxicology reports are pending under Louisiana law.
