A wreck this month in Raceland, Louisiana claimed the life of one woman, but didn't injure any others. Investigators looking into the wreck have released that they do not believe alochol or any other substances to be a factor in this accident. All involved were given onsite toxicology tests that came back negative. The investigations into this wreck continue, and citations have not yet been made.
Geneva C. Toups of Raceland, Louisiana was driving southbound down local Louisiana highway 308 when the wreck occurred. Apparently Toups was attempting to make a left hand turn into a private driveway off 308, but did not properly yeild to oncoming traffic. Toups made the turn, and her 2000 Chevy impala was hit by northbound 2006 Kenworth truck. This caused Toup's vehicle to spin and hit another southbound vehicle. Then, in an attempt to avoid the collison, another vehicle ran onto the shoulder and made impact with a mailbox.
Geneva C. Toups was not properly restrained at the time of wreck, and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The other three vehicles involved suffered damages, but their passengers were pronounced okay, and no had to be taken to a medical center. Investigations into this accident continue by State Troopers, because of this citations have not yet been made. At this point in time it is unknown what the results from their investigation will lead too.
