One dead, One injured in Monroe, Louisiana wreck

An accident on a local Louisiana highway this month lead to the death of one person, and moderately injured another. The two vehicle accident occurred in the afternoon hours of the day reporting state troopers have said. The accident is still under investigation, and routine toxicology samples have been taken from both drivers. The results of those samples are currently unknown, and it was not released if they actually believed alcohol or another substance to be the cause of the wreck.

The collision happened on local Louisiana highway 139 near Monroe, Louisiana in the afternoon sources say. 27 year-old James Collins Jr. was driving southbound down the local highway when for unknown reasons, he left the road and went onto the shoulder. Collins then over corrected across the road while spinning counter clockwise, veering into the northbound road of the highway. There he made a nearly right side collision with a vehicle being driven by 44 year-old Suzanne Hatcher of Monroe, Louisiana.

James Collins Jr sustained moderate injuries in the wreck and was taken to a local hospital. Suzanne Hatcher was pronounced dead at the scene of incident by the coroner's office, while a minor riding in the vehicle with her at the time sustained minor injuries. Reporting State Troopers closed down the northbound lane for an hour and a half while the wreck was being taken care of. It is still under investigation by Louisiana State Troopers, and no citations have been made.
