An accident involving an eighteen wheeler happened this week near Shreveport, Louisiana is Caddo parish sources say. The wreck occurred just after midnight on a local Louisiana highway just outside of the city, and seriously injured at least one person. Responding emergency personnel have said that the wreck was so bad that the section of highway it happened on had to be closed to clean up the area, and reopened later into the morning hours.

The wreck began with a man, name not specified in the sources, driving a mini van down state Highway 71 in North Caddo parish. For reasons that are currently unknown to investigating officials, one of the vehicles, either the mini van or the eighteen wheeler, crossed over the centerline of the highway. The resulting head on collision caused extensive damage to the mini van and surrounding area of the highway.

The man driving the mini-van was critically injured. It is reported that he had to be airlifted by helicopter to the LSU hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana. The driver of the eighteen wheeler was uninjured in this accident. Responding emergency personnel and police have not released what they believe was the cause of this accident.
