New Orleans, Louisiana wreck kills one injures other

Posted on Nov 16, 2010

An accident that occurred on Interstate 10 near New Orleans, Louisiana this month claimed the life of one man, and seriously injured another. Emergency staff who responded to the accident have said that they do not know the exact reason the wreck occurred, and are still investigating. The single vehicle accident involved only two people, and happened late at night sources say. Not much else is known about the wreck at this time.

Nicholas Winestine of Mississippi had once lived in Slidell, Louisiana sources say. He was a passenger in a 2003 Ford Mustang GT that was being driven by his 26 year-old companion. They were driving westbound on Interstate 10 within the New Orleans city limits. For reasons that are currently unknown, but might have been linked to excessive speed, the driver of the vehicle lost control and veered into the concrete medians on the interstate around 1 am. After hitting the median, the car flipped several times before coming to rest in the interstate.

It is currently unknown if either of the men were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the wreck. Nicholas Winestine was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck by the New Orleans Coroner's department. The 26 year-old driver of the vehicle was taken via ambulance to Interim LSU Public Hospital, where is currently listed to be in a stable condition. The ongoing investigations into this car accident will determine if the driver will be cited or charged with a crime. Toxicology reports are pending for both men, and once they return charges will be made by police.
