A Shreveport, Louisiana man was seriously injured in a single car accident this week report State Troopers. The incident was reported around 6 p.m. on highway 494 just east of highway 1 they've said. The investigation into this accident is continuing, and no citations have been released as of yet.

The cause of the accident is still unknown, but 60 year old Ruben M. O' Neal Jr was apparently driving his 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle down highway 494 extremely close to highway 1 when he lost control of his vehicle and went off the right side of the road. It hit the edge of a private driveway and made impact with a metal mailbox. Troopers do not know how long he was there before the accident was reported.

O'Neal was reportedly wearing a novelty helmet that was not up to D.O.T standards. He was taken immediately to the LSU Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana for treatment of critical injuries. Routine toxicology tests are being run, and citations depend on the outcome of those tests. O'Neal's medical state has not been updated, but the Natchez native will hopefully make a recovery.
