A fatal car accident in Monroe, Louisiana this month has claimed the life of one woman, and seriously injured several others. The accident happened in St.Martin Parish, Louisiana on local Louisiana highway 96 at the intersection with Duchamp road. 42 year-old Larry Jenkins was driving his pick-up truck westbound down highway 96 when the wreck occurred. Jenkins then crossed the centerline of the highway, and went colliding head-on into an oncoming pick-up truck traveling eastbound.

Larry Jenkins was determined to be under the influence of alcohol when responding emergency personnel arrived. He received moderate injuries, and was immediately taken Iberia General for treatment. In the other vehicle, a passenger 67 year-old Rosy Vicknair was pronounced dead upon arriving at Lafayette Hospital. The driver, 71 year-old James Vicknair sustained moderate injuries and was taken to the same hospital. Jenkins got several charges including driving under the influence, no seatbelt, driving left of the center line, vehicular homicide, negligent vehicular injury.
