An accident involving a commercial passenger bus and a normal sized pick-up truck in Monroe, Louisiana claimed the life of one person and critically injured another, police say. The accident happened in the city on an entranced to the interstate. Citations for this accident have been issued, but some aspects of the wreck are still under investigation. It was not released if alcohol or other drug use is a suspected factor in this accident.

It happened on the east bound entrance to Interstate 10 on University Avenue around 2:15 am sources say, when the tour bus owned by El Expreso Company began making the left hand turn to get onto the ramp. A pick up truck carrying two passengers collided violently into the side of the tour bus. Emergency personnel rushed to the scene of the accident, where the driver of the bus and it's passengers were immediately questioned about the accident, and how it happened.

Inside the pick-up truck, it was found that the 21 year-old male driver was dead by the Monroe Coroner's office. His 22 year-old passenger was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition following the accident, and his current status is unknown. Thankfully no one in the bus was injured because of the accident. The driver of the tour bus was issued a citation for failure to yield while turning left. This wreck is still under investigation by Monroe police and has not been closed.
