Man arrested for Fatal Hit and Run

This week police apprehended a man involved in a fatal hit and run accident earlier this month. The result of the accident was a man killed from the impact. Reporting state police say that the accident happened around 7:30am near the Ascension-Livingston parish borders in Louisiana.

Deputies arrested Brandon Patrick Ivey of St.Amant, Louisiana in conjunction to the hit and run accident that took the life of 54 year old Lauris Ackerman of Livingston Parish, Louisiana. The local sheriffs got the call for a possible hit and run earlier that week, where they discovered Ackerman unresponsive in a patch of weeded, grassy area on River Highlands Drive.

The local law enforcement discovered it was Ivey from circumstantial evidence and alibi, learning that Ivey had been at the same bar that Ackerman had been at that night. His vehicle also had damage that matched with Ackerman's body found in the vacant lot. Driving under the influence, negligent homicide, and several other charges were filed against Ivey, who turned himself into police hands later that day.
