Louisiana State Police are investigating an accident between a school bus and pick-up, sources say. The accident occurred near Leesville, Louisiana. It is unknown what was the causing factor of this accident, or if alcohol and drug use is a suspected factor in this wreck. Investigations into this incident are ongoing, and no citations have been made.
64 year old Jimmy D. Pollock of Newton, Texas was driving his pick-up truck on local Louisiana highway 28, when ahead of him a school bus was stopped to unload several children. For unknown reasons that are under investigation, Pollock failed to brake and went smashing into the back of the school bus. School bus driver George R. McKenzie and twenty young children were on the bus at the time of the wreck. Pollock had no passengers in his vehicle.
Emergency personnel responded to the accident immediately, where Pollock was found unresponsive. He was pronounced dead by the coroner's office. Two children were inertly injured in this accident, and taken to local hospitals. Toxicology tests, as required by Louisiana law for all fatal accidents, are being run on those involved in the accident.
