Local Louisiana woman killed in 18 wheeler wreck

A fatal one 18 wheeler and one car accident that occured this month in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana has claimed the life of one local woman. State Troopers responding to the accident have said that alochol was a suspected factor in this accident, and that blood samples were taken from both drivers involved for lab analysis. This accident is still under investigation, and citations have not yet been made, the lab results pending.

Reporting State police said that the accident happened in the early morning hours on a local Louisiana state highway in Beauregard parish, Louisiana. It began when 57 year-old Gregory P. Whittington was driving his 18 wheeler eastbound on East Taylor road and stopped at a designated stop sign on the intersection of LA 3226. Whittington then continued to make a right turn on to LA 3226. It was there that 42 year-old Pamela Hernandez struck the rear of the 18 wheeler, causing the accident.

Responding emergency personell say that Hernandez was speaking and alert when they first arrived at the scene, but died soon after of internal injuries on her way to the hospital. Alochol use is suspected on her part and she was not restrained by a seatbelt at the time of the wreck. Gregory P. Whittington was uninjured in this accident, and it unknown the damage done to his cargo. The wreck is still under investigation, and no citations have been made pending the outcome of the toxicology reports.
