A single vehicle accident involving five young teenagers near LaRose, Louisiana this week took the life of one girl and injured others. The accident happened on a local Louisiana highway in the evening on a Friday night. Investigating state troopers have not released if they believe the use of alcohol or another illicit substance to be a factor in this wreck, but speed was listed in the intial investigation. Toxicology samples have been pulled from all of the passengers in the vehicle, and investigations into this wreck continue.
22 year-old Patrick Hebert Jr. of Galliano, Louisiana was driving a 1998 Honda civic northbound on local Louisiana Highway 3235 when the accident occurred. He had four passengers in the vehicle at the time of the wreck. Hebert failed to stop a stop sign at the Bourg-Larrosee Highway, which sent his vehicle flying into a ditch embankment across the road of the highway. Investigating state troopers believe speed was a factor in severity of the wreck.
None of the passengers in the vehicle were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the wreck. Patrick Hebert Jr. received minor injuries, while his front seat passenger received moderate injuries. The passenger sitting in the middle rear seat of the vehicle was sixteen year old Ashley Thibodaux, who was ejected from the vehicle and received critical injuries which killed her later into the night. The two other passengers in the backseat of the vehicle received moderate injuries. All involved in the wreck were taken to a local hospital. Investigations into this accident are ongoing, and at this time citations have not yet been made.
