Lake Charles, Louisiana wreck kills two

Posted on Nov 04, 2010

A traffic accident on interstate 210 in Lake Charles, Louisiana this month has claimed the lives of two people, and critically injured several others. Sources say the accident happened just before an exit ramp into the city around a time of high traffic, and that the cause of the wreck is currently unknown. It was not released if investigating police believe that a substance was a factor in this accident. Routine toxicology reports are pending, and no citations have been made.

The wreck, which is still under heavy investigation by local police, began when the driver of a red Chevrolet impala that had been traveling westbound lost control of their vehicle. The car swerved off the interstate, crossed the median embankment, and then crashed directly into a ford expedition. The expedition struck the impala on it's side as it came from the median in a sideways position. Then both vehicles came to rest in the eastbound lanes of the interstate.

Two of the three occupants in the impala died. A three year old child was pronounced dead at the scene, while his mother Quinneshia Geter was rushed to a medical center. There she died from injuries sustained in the accident. The driver of the vehicle, Jarrod Duhon was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The ford expedition only had one occupant, and he is also in the hospital with critical injuries. The crash remains under investigation from the Lake Charles police department, and citations have not been made.
