LaFourche parish, Louisiana wreck kills one

Posted on Nov 30, 2010

A LaFourche parish, Louisiana wreck this month claimed the life of one young man, sources say. The wreck happened on a local Louisiana highway near the Dess Allemands overpass at around 8 o'clock in the evening. It involved one vehicle, and investigations into this accident are ongoing. It was not released if Louisiana state troopers suspected the driver to be under the influence of alcohol or another illicit substance. Toxicology reports were taken from the driver, and at this time no results have come back. The investigation into this wreck continues.

20 year-old Blake Kenworthey of Abita Springs, Louisiana was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer down local Louisiana highway 90 when the accident occurred. Kenworthey was driving westbound towards the Dess Allemands overpass when for reasons that are currently unknown, he failed to navigate a sharp left hand curve that the road made. Kenworthey's vehicle ran off the highway into the median of Highway 90, which caused the Explorer to flip and roll before coming to rest in the middle of the median.

Kenworthey was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck, and was ejected from his vehicle. The young man passed away before responding emergency personnel could attend to him, and was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. Investigating state troopers have not released why they believe the accident occurred, or if the young man might have been under the influence. Toxicology tests are pending for the accident, and at this time no citations for this wreck have been made. The investigation into this accident continues as troopers gather information about the wreck.
