An accident that occurred this month in Lafourche parish, Louisiana has claimed the life of a celebrated young artisan and student at Nicholls university. Investigations into the accident have not yet given a reason for the wreck, but the use of alcohol or another substance is not suspected to be involved. Louisiana state troopers are still investigating the wreck, and at this time no citations have been made.
Blake Kentworthey of Abita Springs, Louisiana was driving down old local Louisiana highway 90 when the accident occurred. Kentworthey was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer westbound just outside of St.Tammany parish in Lafourche when, for reasons that are still being investigated, he failed to navigate a banking left hand turn. His vehicle exited the roadway on the left hand side, where he was ejected from the car onto the side roadway.
Kentworthey was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of wreck, and was thrown from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by the Lafourche parish coroner's office. The reason he failed to navigate the turn is unknown at this time, and is being investigated. Routine toxicology reports are being on Kentworthey as required under Louisiana law, even though the use of substances is not an expected factor in this accident. The investigations into this wreck continue, and no citations will be made until the toxicology report comes back.
