A tragic accident that took place in Catahoula parish, Louisiana claimed the life of an acclaimed youth bullfighter from Jonesville, Louisiana who was struggling with a life crippling back injury this week. Reporting state police have released that they believe alcohol use was a suspect in this single vehicle accident, and toxicology tests are being run on all who were involved in the wreck.

The accident occurred on a local Louisiana highway that connects the smaller towns in Catahoula parish. It happened when the 2004 Chevrolet truck driven by 18 year old Brandon Smart of Harrisonburg, Louisiana ran off the local state highway very late at night. The reasons that Smart lost control of his vehicle are currently unknown, but responding emergency personnel found Smart's passenger, former bull rider Corbin Carpenter unresponsive in the truck.

Carpenter was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Louisiana Coroner's office, and Smart was taken to a local hospital for moderate injuries he sustained in the accident. Alcohol abuse is suspected in this accident, and toxicology tests are pending for all of those involved. It is not immediately known if either of the boys were wearing their seatbelts or if they were ejected from the vehicles during the accident.
