An accident that occurred this month in Houma, Louisiana has claimed the life of one native resident. Investigating sources into this accident have not stated what they believe to be the causing factor in this car wreck. Toxicology reports, and tests for alcohol have been sent into the lab for analysis, it was not stated if the police force responding to this accident believed alcohol or another substance to be a factor in this wreck.

22 year-old Brett Himel of Houma, Louisiana was driving his vehicle east on North Hollywood road when for reasons that are unknown he lost control of his vehicle. First Himel swerved right off the road as it came around a curve. When this happened, Himel immediately over corrected his vehicle. The over correction caused him to cross the centerline of the road and approach oncoming traffic. Himel's car was hit directly by a truck driven by Michael Bourgeois.

Brett Himel was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, while Michael Bourgeois was properly restrained within his vehicle. It is unknown if Himel was taken to a hospital or if he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime. He passed due to the injuries he sustained in the wreck. Bourgeois was unhurt and uninjured in this accident. Routine tests for alcohol and other substances had to be turned into the Louisiana state police lab from both drivers under Louisiana law for fatal accidents. No citations have been made, and the investigation into this wreck continues.
