Hit and run kills one

Last weekend near Carencro, Louisiana there was an accident that took one life and injured others. Reporting state police say that the accident happened on Interstate 49. It was a hit and run accident, and police are still looking to catch the person who initially caused the wreck.

Clarence Matthews of Abbeville, Louisiana was standing on the shoulder of Interstate 49 with two other people, his car had just broken down and he was waiting for assistance to pick him or get the car running again. At the same time, a car of unknown make and model side swiped a Chevrolet cavalier while trying to move through traffic. The driver of that car was Arsenio Orteza, who lost control of his vehicle. Orteza hit Clarence Matthews and the two other pedestrians before coming to a stop down the road.

Matthews was taken to a hospital, and pronounced dead a little later from injuries sustained in the accident. The two other pedestrians also went to the hospital for injuries, while Arsenio Orteza was not injured in the accident. State police say that the car who began this accident has not been located, and that the investigation is still open.
