Franklinton Man Arrested In Fatal Truck Accident

A Franklinton man was arrested after a fatal truck accident in Washington Parish. The accident occurred north of Pine on La. Highway 424. Our condolences to the victims.

A 19-year-old man was southbound when his pickup truck ran off the road and struck several trees.

Pronounced dead at the scene were two passengers in the truck, a 23-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman.

The driver was booked with vehicular homicide. It is not known if he has an attorney.

In Louisiana, most fatal accidents involving trucks are crashes with large, tractor-trailer trucks. There are over 100 fatalities each year in such accidents with over 3000 people being injured.

However, as this article points out, smaller trucks can also be a problem and can produce fatal accidents.
