This month in Opelousas, Louisiana a serious car wreck moderately injured one person, and killed another. Sources investigating the accident have not released whether or not they believe the use of substances had a factor in this accident, but routine toxicology tests are being run in accordance to Louisiana law.
31 year-old Mashanon Woods of Opelousas, Louisiana was traveling southbound on interstate 49 when the accident occurred. Apparently Woods' vehicle exited the roadway towards the right hand shoulder, so Woods tried to correct the vehicle by turning to the left. The over correction caused her vehicle to begin rotating, and it went through both lanes of southbound traffic before heading into the median and overturning, which ejected her front seat passenger.
Mashanon Woods' passenger was 26 year-old Randell W. Frank was ejected from the vehicle, his body came to rest in the southbound lanes of the interstate, and was struck by two other vehicles. Frank was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Woods was moderately injured as a result of this accident, and was taken to a local hospital. The wreck is still under investigation, and charges are pending upon the investigation.
