Drunk driver causes havoc in Gonzales, Louisiana.

This week in Gonzales, a woman was the source of the police department's woes. Philomene Daigle made a mess of a short strip of road along La. 621 near La.44- crashing into one car and injuring the driver, as well as knocking down two utility poles along the highway.

State police report that Daigle had been intoxicated during the accident, which started when she got into her 2011 Chevrolet silverado around 6 am that morning. Daigle was reportedly driving erratically, passing people on the shoulder and using excessive speed. Traveling on La. 621 is where she first hit a 2005 altima, injuring the driver. Then she ran off the right shoulder, through a ditch, hit a couple of mailboxes, before making impact with a utility pole and coming to a stop.

The impact of Daigle's truck caused the pole to come down, bringing along several power lines and another pole. Daigle was first sent to a hospital and treated for minor injuries before she was arrested and booked with driving under the influence, wreck less driving, and several other citations.
