Critical Injuries in Bayou Blue Louisiana Wreck

Posted on May 11, 2011

This month in Bayou Blue, Louisiana a serious car wreck caused at least one person to be seriously injured. Sources investigating the wreck have stated that it was caused by a drunk driver, and that the investigation is on going as officers find out more about the circumstances of the accident.

Lee Catorie of Scott, Louisiana was a driving a 1991 Chevrolet pick-up truck down local Louisiana highway 182 westbound in Blue Bayou Louisiana when the wreck occurred. Sources say that Catorie was heading down the road when he veered into oncoming eastbound traffic and collided with a mustang being driven eastbound down the highway. When the two vehicles made impact, they stopped in the middle of the roadway.

Emergency personnel responded to the wreck around 11:30pm and immediately transported the Wendal Neal, the driver of the mustang, to a local medical center for treatment of his serious injuries. A passenger in Catorie's vehicle who's name was not released was also taken to a medical center for treatment. Scott Catorie did not pass a breathalyzer at the scene of the wreck, and was taken into custody for driving under the influence. The investigations into this wreck continue as investigators gather evidence against Catorie.

Drunk driving accidents are treated very seriously in Louisiana. If an accident was caused by a drunk driver, Louisiana law allows an injured party to seek punitive damages against such driver. In the situation above, punitive damages could be sought by not only the driver of the Mustang, but also the guest passenger of Catorie's vehicle, under the Louisiana guest passenger law.
