Last weekend, a nasty wreck near Thibodaux, La killed one man and critically injured another. The wreck occured on La.24, also known as the Bourg-Larose Highway, around 10 p.m. The gruesome accident is still being investigated by State Police, and the indentification process is still underway for the body of the man killed.
The accident occured when a northbound 2007 Chevy silverado driven by Dusty Richardel of Lockport, La crossed the centerline of the two lane highway and crashed into a 2005 GMC Sierra. The collsion, for unknown reasons, caused the GMC to become engulfed in flames. Both vechiles went off the highway into the brush surrounding the area with the GMC continuing to burn.
The driver of the GMC was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by the coroner's office, while Dusty Richardel was taken to a hospital immeditely for critical injuries sustained in the crash. The body found inside the Silverado was burnt beyond recogition. Dental records are being pulled to try and identify the body. This accident is still being investigated, and toxicology tests are pending for both drivers involved in the accident.
