An interstate accident this month in Bossier parish, Louisiana sent five people to the hospital with moderate injuries. Investigating state troopers have released that the wreck happened early in the evening, and involved three vehicles. They have also released that driving under the influence, and impairment do not seem to be factors in this crash. Toxicology reports were not taken from the persons involved in this accident, and the investigations into it continue.
Wille H. Gammage of Atlanta, Georgia was operating a 2011 frieghtliner truck when the wreck occured. For reasons that are unknown, Gammage was stopped on the shoulder of the interstate near milepost 34. When Gammage made the attempt of merging back into traffic with his truck, he made impact with a 2003 GMC Envoy that had five people in it. The impact from the freightliner caused the envoy to spin out of the lane, and collide with a Honda civic that was carrying only one passenger.
Gammage was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, and was not injured. The driver and front passenger of the GMC Envoy were restrained at the time of the wreck, and recieved minor injuries. The two people in the back of the envoy had to be airlifted from the scene and sent to LSU Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The driver of the Honda was restrained at the time of the wreck, and recieved minor injuries. Gammage was ticketed for failure to yield and stopping on the shoulder of the road in a non-emergency capacity. The investigation into this wreck continues, and more citations are pending on that continuation.
