A three vehicle accident this month claimed the life of one woman, and moderately injured another person, sources say. The wreck occurred on Interstate 10 in West Baton Rouge parish during a time of heavy traffic flow. Toxicology reports have been taken from all involved in the wreck and are pending, but the use of alcohol was not suspected from anyone involved in this accident. The investigations into this wreck continue, and no citations have been made at this time.
Victoria Stevenson Archangel of Lafayette, Louisiana was driving her 2003 Ford Expedition down I-10 in West Baton Rouge parish eastbound when the wreck occurred. Near the 415 exit, Archangel failed to brake and rear ended a pick-up truck ahead of her. Once that impact was made, Archangel lost control of her vehicle. The expedition crossed over the median separating traffic, began to spin, and entered the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10. There, the expedition was hit on the driver's side by a Peterbuilt flatbed truck.
Archangel was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck. She was ejected from the vehicle, and pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck by the West Baton Rouge Coroner's office. The driver of the pick-up truck, Glenn Burge of Rosedale, was not injured in the wreck. The driver of the Peterbuilt flatbed truck Joshua Wingerter of St. Amant, Louisiana sustained injuries that were considered moderate and was taken to a local hospital. The investigations into this wreck continue, and while toxicology reports have been taken there is no suspicion of alcohol in this wreck. No citations have been made, and will be made pending the results.
