A traffic accident near Baton Rouge, Louisiana this month claimed the life of one local young man, sources say. The wreck apparently happened late at night on Hoover road near the outskirts of Baton Rouge, and involved two vehicles. Investigations into this accident are ongoing, and routine toxicology tests have been pulled and are pending from the lab. It is unknown if alcohol use or drug use is a suspected factor in this wreck, and while citations have been made more are pending from the police department covering the accident.
The wreck started when 19 year-old Joshua Carter was driving down Foster road in his Infiniti when he failed to yield to a vehicle coming down Hoover road. Carter pulled out in front of another vehicle, which slammed into the passenger side of Carter's vehicle sometime shortly before 9 p.m. that night. Joshua Carter was driving with his brother, 25 year-old William Carter, both boys are Baton Rouge locals.
William Carter was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by responding emergency personnel, and the coroner's office. The driver of the colliding pick-up truck 39 year-old Brett Pickett was uninjured in the car wreck. The status of Joshua Carter's medical condition is currently unknown. Police who responded to the accident reminded drivers in the area to be cognizant of the lights, despite the lack of traffic in this rural area of Louisiana and to always drive cautiously at night. Carter was charged with failure to yield, but might be facing more charges in the near future for this accident.
