Louisiana state police report an accident that happened just outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana in Vermillion Parish. The wreck claimed the life of a Maurice, Louisiana man and injured another. The accident is still being investigated by police, and they have not released if alcohol was a suspect in this crash. It was not released if both of the men were or were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the wreck.

The accident happened in Vermillion parish, Louisiana on the local U.S Highway 699 during the evening. Steven P. Gale was driving his 2001 Toyota Corolla down the highway when he failed to yield at one of the stop signs. Gale's car made impact with a 2006 Mazda Tribute that was being driven by Tammy H. Nunez of Erath, Louisiana. The release did not include how exactly Gale's car hit Nunez.

Emergency personell responded to the accident, and Gale was taken immeditely to Abbeville General Hospital. At the hospital, he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the accident. Nunez was also sent to the hospital, but for minor injuries sustained in the wreck. Police say that they do not know if alchol was a suspect in this accident, and routine toxicology tests are pending for this accident.
