This month in Bastrop, Louisiana a serious car wreck killed one person at the local hospital. Police officers who are investigating the accident said the alcohol was a major factor in this accident, and that the person who caused this wreck was definitely intoxicated. The investigations into this accident continue as investigators pull more information about the wreck. For this reason, more charges are pending in this investigation.

Leroy Mason of Forest, Louisiana was driving his vehicle down local Bastrop road North Washington when the accident occurred. Apparently Mason was driving too close to the centerline of the road. Mason ended up crossing over the centerline of the roadway and colliding with a 1990 Ford pick-up truck that was being driven by Karen Sims of Bastrop, Louisiana. The vehicles collided and came to rest in the middle of the road, where they were found by police officers.

Both people had to be extricated from their vehicles by the fire department and jaws of life. Sims was rushed to the hospital, where she later died from injuries sustained in the accident. Mason was also taken to the hospital, treated for minor injuries, and then arrested. He was cited with vehicular homicide, driving left of center, no drivers license and an alcohol-open container. More charges are pending as the investigation continues against Mason.
