Army carrier forced off road in crash

Posted on Aug 24, 2010

In early August, Louisiana was being hit by an extreme heat wave. Directly after the heat wave, a massive downpour of rain cooled everything out and made the roads extremely wet. This, in conjunction with other human factors created a serious accident on I-20 near Monroe, Louisiana.

State Troopers are investigating an accident that happened on I-20 involving an unmarked black truck, and an army carrier. The accident hurt several people when, the unmarked truck came merging in dramatically on wet roads. He cut off the army carrier, driven by Amah Puryear. Puryear made the attempt to brake for the truck, but began hydroplaning. The carrier began spinning, going off, and hitting the side wall.

Puryear was ejected from the vehicle, and taken immediately to the hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. Others riding in the back of the carrier were also injured, but Puryear was the only one who went to the hospital. Reporting State Troopers are still searching for the black truck and it's driver, and the accident is still being investigated.
