An accident just inside Acadiana parish, Louisiana this week has claimed the life of one man. Sources say the wreck happened on a local Louisiana highway when the driver of a vehicle failed to stay on the road. Investigating police officers have not stated if they believed the use of alcohol or another illicit substance to be a factor in this accident. Toxicology reports are pending under Louisiana law for all fatal accidents.
57 year-old Jerry Arnold from Plaucheville, Louisiana was driving down local highway LA. 107 in his 2005 Dodge truck when he came upon a slight right hand curve in the road. For reasons that are currently unknown to investigating police officers, Arnold failed to negotiate the curve. His vehicle crossed the centerline of the highway, and then exited the roadway. There, Arnold hit an oak tree and came to rest in a ditch around 4 o'clock in the morning.
Jerry Arnold of Plaucheville, Louisiana was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. He was not restrained by a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and state police stated that they do not know why Arnold failed to navigate the curve. No citations or charges have been filed for this accident, and anything that is pending is waiting on the routine toxicology reports from the Louisiana state police lab.
