An accident near Bossier, Louisiana involving an 18 wheeler claimed the life of a child this month and put others in critical condition. State police have not cited anyone in this accident as of yet, but the investigation is continuing and on going. A spokeswoman for the police department said "It's a really tragic day here on I-20. it's supposed to be a festive time of year, but this is anything but." in regards to the wreck.
On I-20, the wreck occurred when a Lincoln slowed down near the Hearne Avenue exit because of traffic congestion and construction on that part of the roadway. An 18 wheeler that was being driven by Milton Dawkins rear ended the back of the Lincoln as a result of not braking fast enough in his big rig.
The impact killed the four month old child in the back of the Lincoln, and put his 26 year old mother Claudia Salley to LSU in dire critical condition. Several days later, she was checked on again, and was still listed as being in extremely critical condition. It is unknown if Dawkins, the driver of the big rig, was injured in this accident.
