18 Wheeler Louisiana Accident Injures One

Posted on Oct 14, 2010

An accident that occurred in Red River Parish this month has critically injured one young man, sources say. State police investigating and looking into the accident have said that it happened late at night on a local Louisiana state highway. They've also released that alcohol or other drug use was not a suspect in this accident, but that routine toxicology reports are pending anyway for the crash.

Around 10 o'clock at night, 18 year old Coushatta, Louisiana native Travis Levi was driving southbound down local Louisiana highway 71 two miles north of another highway called 514 in Red River parish, Louisiana. His 1987 Ford F-150 was traveling normally until for unknown reasons, it began to cross the centerline. When it did, it came into the way of a 2008 Mack truck that was heading for the wild fires in the southern part of the parish. The driver of the truck tried to avoid hitting Levi but was unable to, and made impact.

Levi was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, and had to be air lifted from the scene and taken to the LSU hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana with extremely critical injuries. Investigations into his condition later that night said he was still not doing well. The driver of the mack truck was uninjured in this accident, and was also wearing his seat belt at the scene. The wreck is still under investigation, and no citations have been made as of yet. State police do not think or suspect any impairment on either of the driver's parts, but toxicology samples have been taken to the lab for analysis.
