Sometimes accidents are so tragic, it is difficult to contemplate the consequences and the pain they create. Sadly, a recent truck accident falls into that category, and it reminds us that we all must think about safety issues and how our environment can affect our safety.
One environmental issue may be how curves are built in a particular roadway. Are they sharp? Do you have plenty of warning before a sharp turn? Environmental issues are those that you do not have control over. You can’t get the highway rebuilt – at least not very quickly.
However, you do have control over how you handle those curves as you drive or the precautions you may take if the vehicle in front of you seems to be driving too quickly or erratically for an upcoming curve in the road.
Four teens were tragically killed in a truck accident on LA 183 near Bayou Blue and Coteau roads. We send our sincerest condolences to their family and friends.
Authorities searched several parishes after the teens were reported missing. Their pickup truck was discovered in a bayou. They were reported missing after they failed to return home from an LSU football game.
They were located via a GPS signal from one of the teens’ cell phone. While the cause of the wreck is still being investigated, the truck failed to negotiate a curve in the road, struck a guard rail and took out several feet of it before going into the bayou.
This may well be a case of environmental conditions creating the context for an accident.
