The driver of an 18-wheeler, a 54-year-old man from Lake Charles, Louisiana, is recovering from a gunshot wound after an accident with a pickup truck on Interstate 10 near Orange, Texas.
This
Louisiana truck crash occurred on Tuesday morning at about 1:50 a.m. when, driving westbound, the tanker truck ran into the GMC pickup and smashed it into the median, according to a report by
Beaumontenterprise.com.
Orange police arriving to the scene shortly after the crash found the GMC squeezed between the median and the tanker truck, and the truck driver bleeding from a shot in the leg. He was taken to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Capt. Cliff Hargrave said the Orange Police Department received conflicting versions of what had happened. The tanker truck driver claims he struck the pickup in retaliation after having been shot at, while the GMC pickup driver, a 32-year-old from Spring, says the 18-wheeler ran into his vehicle in a bout of road rage, so he shot the driver in the leg.
If you are the target of
road rage and are stalked by an angry driver, don't panic; slow down and focus on moving away from the highway, taking the nearest exit towards a more crowded place. Lock all the car doors and drive towards a shopping mall or the nearest police station.
In Louisiana, you can report aggressive driving by calling *LSP (*577).
