In Louisiana, aggressive driving needs to be curbed.

Who hasn’t been a witness to aggressive driving in New Orleans and elsewhere in Louisiana? At times, the mad driver is just rushing past you giving you one hell of a scare, while you can only hope no one will get hurt farther down the road. And at times, the enraged driver is mad at you and gives you a terrible time while you scramble to escape this unwelcome attention.

Aggressive driving is scary and dangerous and should be stopped.

If you are the target of “road rage” and are harassed by an angry driver don’t make sudden maneuvers; slow down without stopping and steer your car to the right lane where you can exit the highway. If you are being followed, lock all the car doors, do not stop and do not go to your home but drive to a police station or crowded area.

Drivers who lose their self-control and behave aggressively in traffic, tailgating, speeding, weaving or running red lights, are a terrible danger to others and should be immediately reported to the Louisiana State Police, using the short number *LSP (*577).

When reporting aggressive driving, the police officers’ task will be greatly facilitated if you can provide more information, such as:
  • Description of the vehicle (type, make, model, color, license plate state and number);
  • Description of the driver (sex, race, age, hair color);
  • Location and time of incident;
  • What happened?

Also be prepared to act as a witness in case the driver is caught.
